It’s cold, dreary and rainy here in Charlotte today but that doesn’t stop me from dreaming of my next trip to the beach. It helps to carry around a recycled sailcloth tote bag that puts me in the mood for sea, sun and fun.
When Ella Vickers completed her job as first mate on a classic Americas Cup winner, she wanted to keep the memory alive, so she took the discarded sailcloth and created a set of bags. Soon she had folks buying them off her arms everytime she took one out. From that moment Ella Vickers Recycled Sailcloth Collection was born!
All items are handcrafted in the USA using yachts sails from around the world, saving 20 thousand yards of sailcloth from the landfill each year. They make the perfect beach tote or a great bag for a rainy today because of course they are waterproof.
Real Simple Magazine recently featured the recycled sailcloth open tote bag as one of their “Seaworthy beach bags”
Pick one up today and get ready for beach season!

Healthy Skin-Care for BabyWhen Nashville’s Diana Lussenden Stewart couldn’t find organic products for her baby’s skin, she started making her own. Here’s how BABYBEARSHOP went from her kitchen to your local store.
Necessity really is the mother of invention. Take Diana Lussenden Stewart, for instance. When she couldn’t find products free from fragrance and synthetic ingredients for her baby’s itchy skin, she decided to make her own. With her knowledge of aromatherapy and healing remedies, she began blending organic oils, such as sunflower seed, Roman chamomile, olive, rose hip, and lavender, to make a soothing cream. As her daughter’s skin cleared, Diana’s friends began asking for their own jars of the baby cream. She mixed up more products in her home kitchen, including a stretch mark belly oil.

A big thank you to the Green Scene for this great review!
I’ll admit, I have something of a “Target Problem” (my definition: I buy too much stuff there). I just love the retail giant’s affordable home fashions—especially now that the company’s made great strides in its green offerings (including Natural Home kitchenware).
So it’s great to see Target move into environmentally friendly clothing. Scott Mackinlay Hahn and Rogan Gregory, Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) award winning designer, debuted their eco-friendly clothing line, Loomstate, on April 19 at select Target stores and online at Target.com. Loomstate’s pelican logo assures that the clothes are made from 100 percent certified organic cotton, produced in a socially and environmentally responsible way. Read the rest of this entry »

Make a body buff scrub! For every eco-beauty dilemma, there is always a fabulous fix, sometimes it just means taking matters into your own hands. Cue Nettie Davis, celebrity manicurist and founder of nettiescrub.
Organic ingredients, and simple yet scrumptious combinations are the foundation of Davis’ sumptuous line of balms, exfoliants, soaps and candles. Shop by scent or product category. The lemon body buff ($12 for 4 oz.) is a tried and true springtime favorite, but lavender is perfect for calming the senses and peppermint will leave you invigorated from head to toe.
nettiescrub products are only sold in sustainable and reusable packaging – when finished with the scrub, the glass jars make perfect bathroom storage for items like organic cotton puffs and swabs. A perfect compliment to your own manicure regime!
